2020 was our first season offering a box-delivery program, and we see no reason to stop now. Growing, harvesting, and packing boxes (and imagining the yummy meals you all are making–let us know about them!) has become one of the most rewarding and fun parts of the farm. It’s a fine balance when choosing what’s going in “the box” each week to be neither too repetitive nor too strange in our vegetable choices. Expect our vegetables to be both repetitive and strange on occasion, but they’re always delicious!
In 2024 we’re planting the usual abundance of our favourite standards: carrots, lettuce, salad, beets, summer squash, kale and beans. And of course, we can’t say goodbye to our “seasonal occasional unusuals” like cabbage, celtuce, dandelion, fennel and agretti. We do have a bit of a love affair with radicchio and it’s only fair to warn you, our box promises to include a taste of everything we grow.
We try to make the box pretty full, a pretty good value and just pretty. A standard box will include 6-8 items chosen by us that week. As a bonus we provide a subscription to a really great farmers-market/CSA focused online recipe resource that has recipes for every vegetable I’ve heard of. If you like to cook, if you are open to trying new vegetables, if you just need a bunch of veggies, and/or you want a direct and supportive relationship with a local farmer, this kind of thing might be your kind of thing!
Your weekly vegetables are packed in either recycled cardboard boxes or in clean plastic totes.
You’ll have a choice of where the best place is to pick up your box for the season. You can choose either on Saturday at Moss Street Market (10-2) or Wednesdays at Rock Bay Market from 2-4 . You can also opt for on-farm pickups in Central Saanich on Wednesdays.

Frequent questions that come up:
What is this Veggie Box? Our Veggie Box is a weekly, farmer-selected assortment of the best veggies we have available that week. It runs from June 19th to October 2nd or June 15th to September 28th depending on pickup location). We started this project as a way to get good food to good people in a simplified and streamlined way.
Where/when do I get my box? In our online store you can choose between three pickup locations: Rock bay Market on Wednesdays, on-farm pickup (Central Saanich) on Wednesdays, or Saturdays at Moss Street Market. Boxes start mid-June and continue weekly until late September (16 weeks).
Is it organic? Yes it is. We’ve been certified organic since 2006. Crop rotation, planting at just the right time, cultivating a healthy living soil and farm environment, and choosing the best, healthiest varieties are our main tools for making sure you get the best quality food we can grow.
Can I customize my box/make substitutions? No, sorry. We need to keep this simple for ourselves. We are a small team working in a small space so we’re limited in the amount of extra work we can put into custom options. If there’s a vegetable you don’t like, now is your opportunity to get to know it and learn to appreciate it! That said, our vegetables are generally pretty approachable and sweet and tender and fresh. Nothing too scary.
What do I do if I want to go away? One thing you can do is tell a friend who might appreciate it that they can pick it up in your place. Or if you can let us know enough ahead of time, we can arrange for an alternate pick-up date. Boxes not picked up will be donated.
